How to Blend Duolingo & Babbel with Traditional Methods
Mastering Language Learning with a Modern-Traditional Fusion
Duolingo and Babbel have changed the way language learners go about their journey. They made learning feel like a game and shook up the market.
But I don't think they're a super efficient method to start learning a language from the beginning. They are more like tools you can use to complement the methods discussed in previous articles.
Learning a new language with apps like Duolingo or Babbel has its challenges. These tools often focus on short sentences and may not help you master the language perfectly. The convenience of learning on your smartphone can also be a drawback – notifications may distract you, making it tough to stay focused.
To make the most of these apps, here's a helpful method:
Carry your Notebook: Write down every new word and sentence you learn.
Evening Review: Read your notes every night before bedtime.
Out Loud Practice: Say each sentence out loud, repeating it until it sounds perfect.
Lexical Field Exploration: Explore words in the same category to be proactive and turn from a passive learner to a language treasure hunter.
Stay Consistent: Don't ignore app notifications prompting you to do your daily lesson. They serve as good reminders to stay consistent with your learning.
This method adds a proactive touch to your language learning, helping you retain more and stay engaged in the process.
Last but not least, consider restructuring the lessons to maintain enjoyment and play the long-term game with them.
Your goal is to incorporate them into your daily routine if you find it beneficial and if you remind yourself of what you are learning.
That concludes today's insights. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Share this with someone keen on learning foreign languages and, of course, consider subscribing.
I'm delighted to see our community of learners growing, and your participation brings me joy.
